    Repression
    In august 1940, Pétain's Government creates the Légion Française des Combattants (the French Combatants Legion).

    In july 1941, is created the Légion des Volontaires Français contre le Bolchevisme (LVF) (the French Volunteers Legion against Bolshevism).

    In february 1942, creation of a hard core : the Service d'Ordre de la Légion (SOL) (the Legion contingent), becoming later, on January 30th 1943, the Milice française (the french militia).

    Members of the Milice and arrested resistance fighters In Drome, the Milice will be set up on february 28th 1943 in Valence, then in Romans, on march 14th.

    The Milice is a police composed of frenchmen from all social conditions and of ex-prisoners.

    Their methods of repression are related to the ones of the Gestapo.

    The most violent german repressions took place in Saint-Donat-sur-Herbasse, Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans, la Chapelle-en-Vercors, Vassieux-en-Vercors, la Grotte de la Luire, Valréas and Nyons.
